This notice explains how CG Fire & Electrical Ltd collects, uses, shares and protects personal information relating to customers, prospective customers, reviewers and visitors to this website.

CG Fire & Electrical Ltd is the data controller. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 15490767. Our registered office is 40 Clarence Road, Chesterfield, S40 1LQ.

Information we collect
Enquiries and customer communications
When you contact us by email, telephone or through an enquiry prepared on this website, we may receive your name, contact details, company or organisation, site or project information, correspondence and any drawings or documents you choose to provide. The website enquiry form opens your own email application; it does not submit those details to a separate website database.
Customer reviews
When you submit a review, we collect your full name, email address, optional company name, customer or project type, rating, review text, chosen public display name and confirmation that we may publish the review. We use the private details to check that feedback is genuine and to contact you if necessary.
If approved, the rating, review, customer or project type and the display name you selected—first name, initials or “Anonymous”—may be shown publicly. Your full name, email address, company name and job location are not published unless you separately ask us to do so.
Technical and security information
When you visit the website, hosting and security systems may automatically process limited technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, requested pages, date and time of access, referring page and security events. This information is used to deliver the website, prevent misuse, diagnose faults and maintain security. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Why we use personal information
- To respond to enquiries, prepare quotations and take steps requested before entering into a contract.
- To deliver work, communicate about projects, issue documentation and meet our contractual obligations.
- To maintain business, accounting and legal records and comply with legal obligations.
- To verify, moderate and administer reviews, prevent false or abusive submissions and protect the website.
- To publish an approved review where the reviewer has given permission.
Our lawful bases
Depending on the circumstances, we process personal information because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, to perform a contract, to comply with a legal obligation, or for our legitimate interests in operating the business, responding to enquiries, securing the website and verifying feedback.
We rely on consent to publish a customer review using the selected display option. Consent may be withdrawn at any time by emailing us. Withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.
Who we share information with
We may share information only where necessary with authorised CG Fire & Electrical personnel, professional advisers, insurers, accountants, subcontractors or suppliers involved in the relevant work, and providers that support our email, website, data storage, security and business systems. These recipients may process information only for the relevant purpose and subject to appropriate obligations.
The website is delivered using OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure. Squarespace manages the cgfe.co.uk domain name and DNS routing; it does not host the website content. These providers may process limited technical information required to route, deliver and protect the website. We may also disclose information where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal information and do not provide it to third parties for their own advertising.
International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we require an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to approved standard contractual clauses, together with suitable security measures.
How long we keep information
- Enquiries that do not lead to work are normally retained for no longer than 24 months after the last meaningful contact.
- Customer, quotation, contract, project, certification, invoice and payment records may normally be retained for up to six years after the relevant relationship or transaction ends, or longer where a legal or regulatory requirement applies.
- Unapproved review submissions are normally deleted within 12 months. Approved reviews may remain public while relevant or until permission is withdrawn. Associated private verification information is periodically reviewed and removed when it is no longer required.
- Technical and security records are retained according to operational and security needs and the applicable provider’s retention arrangements. Copies controlled by CGFE are not kept longer than necessary unless required for investigating misuse or a legal claim.
Information may be retained for longer where required by law, an insurer, a regulatory obligation, an unresolved dispute or a legal claim.
How we protect information
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to prevent personal information from being lost, misused, altered, disclosed or accessed without authority. Access is limited to people and providers that require it for legitimate business purposes. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure, but suspected data incidents will be assessed and reported where the law requires.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, or to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may also withdraw consent to publication of a review at any time.
These rights are not absolute and a lawful exemption may apply. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. We normally respond within one month and do not charge a fee unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

Cookies and analytics
The public website does not currently use analytics, advertising or marketing cookies. Website hosting and security services may use cookies or similar technologies that are strictly necessary to deliver, secure or administer the service. These cannot be switched off through a consent banner where they are essential to the service.
If we introduce non-essential analytics, advertising or marketing technologies, we will update this notice and provide an appropriate choice before they are used.
Automated decisions
We do not use personal information collected through this website to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The latest version will be published on this page.
